BIO 272 - Introduction to Bioinformatics 3 Credit Hours
This course introduces tools and methods for analyzing biological data, particularly genomic and molecular sequence data. Students learn to analyze biological databases and algorithms, and to use statistical tools to understand DNA, RNA, and protein sequences. Course topics include sequence alignment, genome annotation, phylogenetics, and next-generation sequencing analysis. Students will gain skills in sequence analysis, computational analysis, biological data interpretation, programming for biology, and general use of modern bioinformatics tools.
Prerequisite(s): BIO 160 with a grade of C or better
