The Art Transfer Program, AA degree in Art, provides a foundation curriculum that parallels Art curricula at four-year institutions, allowing students to enter a baccalaureate program on the junior level or to gain professional expertise in a chosen area.
Program Competencies
- Use basic art media (materials) to create artworks using proficient craftsmanship
- Use the elements of design and color theory in the creation of artworks
- Demonstrate growth in the creative process using divergent or creative thinking and risk taking, using appropriate materials
- Recognize that different human experiences and cultures represent different aesthetic, creative processes and points of view
- Reflect on, or evaluate either orally or in writing, the creative process and product using self-critique or group critique to synthesize ideas or solutions, connecting ideas in a new way
- Use Art History, in an oral or written manner, to appreciate art and develop a visual arts vocabulary using emotional and intellectual responses (including reasoned judgment)
- Create a portfolio of work representing the accumulation of knowledge and expertise gained in studio work
- Demonstrate preparedness to transfer to a four-year program in art
