Communications, Arts and Humanities Division

The Communications Transfer Program prepares students for transfer to a baccalaureate program. In this program, students planning careers in communications, journalism, public relations, or visual communications will engage in a broad course of study that will provide the foundation for future specialization in the study and practice of effective communication. The program fosters the ability to write for new and emerging media and an understanding of rhetoric as the primary mode of human interaction.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, the student should be able to:

  • Describe communications as a discipline and its central questions
  • Demonstrate an understanding of communication theories, perspectives, principles and concepts
  • Create communications appropriate to the audience, purpose, and context using various modalities and technologies
  • Critically analyze communications
  • Apply ethical communication principles and practices within the discipline
