The Medical Office/Health Records Specialist Certificate program is designed to provide students with the competencies necessary to obtain entry-level employment in the healthcare environment. All coursework may later be applied to an Associate in Applied Science degree if the student desires.

Upon successful completion of this program, the student should be able to:
Demonstrate technical competency in computer skills to produce correspondence from various formatted sources with speed and accuracy.
Apply medical office procedures and HIPAA laws to set priorities, organize work, and use appropriate electronic medical technology to fulfill responsibilities of the position.
Exhibit effective writing, speaking, and interpersonal communication skills individually and as part of teams in face-to-face and virtual environments within homogeneous and heterogeneous cultures in a healthcare setting.
Utilized standards and practices in the healthcare environment to fulfill the expectations of the mission of the healthcare organization while adhering to the ethics policy.
