Business Division

The Business Academic Certificate, utilizing on-line courses exclusively, is designed to develop basic skills necessary for business-related careers. The knowledge from these courses will be helpful in entry-level management or management trainee positions. It will also be helpful as a basic primer on business for accomplished professionals who seek a basic business background. Coursework may later be applied to the Business Management College Credit Certificate, as well as to the Business Management Associate in Applied Science degree and the Business Administration transfer degree.

Program Competencies

Upon successful completion of this program, the student should be able to:

  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and evaluate the results by performing basic financial statement analysis.
  • Discuss and apply the fundamentals of business, using the language of business.
  • Apply economic theory to analyze social, political, financial, and business problems.
  • Create integrated documents, worksheets, databases and presentations suitable for coursework, professional purposes and personal use using personal productivity software.
  • Utilize business management principles to analyze business problems and make decisions.
