The Creative Writing Certificate Program is designed to provide students with a foundational knowledge of creative writing aesthetics, as well as the workshop as an instructional method, in order for the student to begin to submit work for publication and effectively choose the direction of their creative writing study and/or career.
Academic Certificates consist of courses that are imbedded in degree programs which prepare students for advanced courses or are subject to a selective admission process. Academic certificates may be awarded to students upon completion of a defined course sequence and/or prior to their degree completion.
Program Competencies
- Demonstrate a reflective awareness of aesthetic and creative process.
- Participate in a workshop format.
- Compose creative work that demonstrates multiple literary techniques.
- Exhibit a familiarity with the publication process, including the submission and acquisitions processes.
