Practical examples will be used to illustrate the relationship between physics and other disciplines, and to develop problem-solving skills. Topics covered include vector analysis, kinematics, force and linear motion, two-dimensional motion, gravitation, energy, momentum and collisions, fluids and pressure, heat and calorimetry. Laboratory experiments will emphasize accurate measurements and data manipulation using the basic theories of physics. This is the first, of a 2-semester physics course sequence.

Prerequisite(s): MAT 160  OR MAT 110  and EUT 110
