PHY 240 - Physics I 4 Credit Hours (Lab)
Physics I is an algebra-based physics course that introduces students to concepts, principles, terminology, and methodologies as related to mechanical, fluid and thermal systems. Practical examples will be used to illustrate the relationship between physics and other disciplines, and to develop problem-solving skills. Topics covered include vector analysis, kinematics, force and linear motion, two-dimensional motion, gravitation, energy, momentum and collisions, fluids and pressure, heat and calorimetry. Laboratory experiments will emphasize accurate measurements and data manipulation using the basic theories of physics. This is the first, of a 2-semester physics course sequence.
Prerequisite(s): MAT 160 OR MAT 110 and EUT 110
COM 098 OR EAP 050 and EAP 060 OR sufficient placement test score.
