PSG 100 - Medical Terminology for Polysomnography 2 Credit Hours
This course is designed to introduce students to medical terminology with a focus on sleep medicine and polysomnography. Emphasis is placed on understanding word roots, prefixes, suffixes, and abbreviations commonly used in sleep diagnostics and related fields. Topics include terminology related to sleep physiology, sleep disorders, neuroanatomy, respiratory function, cardiovascular implications of sleep disorders, polysomnographic procedures, diagnostic testing, scoring terminology, pharmacology relevant to sleep medicine, and patient care documentation. By the end of the course, students will be able to accurately interpret and utilize medical terminology in the clinical sleep lab setting.
