PSG 105 - Applied Polysomnography Internship 2 Credit Hours
This internship course provides polysomnography students with a comprehensive, hands-on clinical experience in a professional sleep study environment. Under the direct supervision of a qualified preceptor, students will apply theoretical knowledge to real-world polysomnographic procedures, gaining proficiency in patient care, sleep study protocols, data collection, and analysis. The course emphasizes professional standards, patient safety, teamwork, ethical responsibilities, and critical thinking skills essential for success in the field.
Throughout the 960-hour supervised internship, students are also required to complete 90 hours of concurrent classroom instruction designed to reinforce technical skills, enhance professional development, and prepare for certification. Upon completion, students will have gained the competencies necessary for entry-level practice in polysomnography and eligibility for professional certification exams.
