BIO 285 - Biomanufacturing 4 Credit Hours
This course introduces the principles and practices of biomanufacturing used in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Using bacteria, mammalian, and/or yeast cells, students learn upstream and downstream processing techniques to produce biological products such as vaccines, enzymes, and therapeutic proteins. Emphasis is placed on fermentation, cell culture, purification methods, quality control, and regulatory compliance, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Prerequisite(s): BIO 275 with a grade of C or better
