STEM Division

The Mechatronics Engineering Technology Certificate program provides the student with a route to obtain both a college credential and a national certification (Advanced Manufacturing Integrated Systems Technology, AMIST-1). This provides the student with a strong foundation for potential employment as an entry-level industrial maintenance technician or to continue towards completion of the RACC Mechatronics Engineering Technology AAS program of study. The program integrates basic industrial mechanical and electrical systems with digital controls to match the needs of modern manufacturing.

Students are granted credit by articulation for the required Mechatronics Engineering Technology (MET) courses after completion of the course competencies through courses offered by RACC’s Workforce and Economic Development/ Community Education Division. Students should contact that division to obtain information on course offerings and costs.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, the student should be able to:

  • Demonstrate effective technical writing skills.
  • Use basic hand and power tools proficiently for equipment maintenance.
  • Demonstrate mechanical, electrical, and digital controller skills appropriate for equipment maintenance.
  • Apply mathematical methods to solve problems in applied physics.

Proficiency Certificates are certificates which are designed to prepare students for specific occupations and allow the student to enter the world of work with a targeted set of skills valuable in the designated occupational area.
