This program is designed to prepare the student to enter a baccalaureate program in Psychology on the junior level.
Program Competencies
Upon successful completion of this program, the student should be able to:
- Describe the discipline of psychology and differentiate among the various sub-fields within the disipline.
- Discuss various theories of psychology as they relate to behavior and mental processes.
- Identify terminology used in interpersonal relationships and intrapersonal awareness.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the relationship between psychology and physical health.
- Analyze biological, cognitive, and social-emotional development of the developing human.
- Identify the various theories that explain personality development.
- Summarize the basic features of research methods in psychology.
- Analyze the major cognitive systems, schools of psychology, and general theories of psychology as they relate to the human.
- Analyze the biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors that influence behaviors and psychological phenomenon to include processes in addiction and recovery.
- Illustrate the theories and their practical applications as these relate to sensation and perception.

Students should meet with their faculty advisor to carefully select courses. Select 4 courses from at least 2 of the following categories:

To fulfill program requirements, students should take the following General Education courses.
