Science and Mathematics Division

The Health Sciences Certificate program is designed to provide students with foundational knowledge and skills in the health-related sciences, covering biology, anatomy, and physiology with elective courses in chemistry, microbiology, and physics. Students are also required to complete other general courses appropriate for application to more advanced college health science programs. Students may be able to use this certificate towards employment as a home healthcare aide or other healthcare positions not requiring specific clinical training or associate-level or higher education. Students using this certificate towards employment are encouraged to pair this certificate with additional healthcare training at RACC.

Program Competencies

Upon successful completion of this program, the student should be able to:

  • Perform general laboratory techniques needed in the health sciences.
  • Identify the anatomical components of humans.
  • Describe the physiological systems in the human body.
  • Apply statistics and other mathematical methods to solve quantitative problems.

Academic Certificates consist of courses that are imbedded in degree programs which prepare students for advanced courses or are subject to a selective admission process. Academic certificates may be awarded to students upon completion of a defined course sequence and/or prior to their degree completion.
