The Network Support Certificate is designed to develop the skills necessary to support computer networks that utilize Cisco connecting devices, and to prepare students for Cisco Certification. The knowledge gained from this coursework will prepare the student for entry-level jobs in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry and provides the prerequisites to pursue more specialized ICT skills. Coursework may later be applied to an Associate in Applied Science degree if the student desires.
Program Competencies
Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- Describe the hardware and software needs in a modern business environment using appropriate computer terminology.
- Discuss the issues of professional standards and ethics for Information Technology workers.
- Perform Windows server installation, configuration, management, and monitoring.
- Prevent and counter network attacks.
- Build, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain networks using Cisco connecting devices.
